In most parts of India, kungumam is considered the most auspicious.
Kungumam Thazhampoo is made purely with natural ingredients like virali manjal, padigaram and venkaram, with the aroma of thazhampoo (screw pine flower).
Since the 20th century, married women apply red kungumam to the parting of their hair above their forehead each day as a symbol of their marriage.
